Yearly class attendance is a measure of how many students are present in class over the course of a school year. Here are some ways to calculate and track class attendance:  Average daily attendance (ADA) Divide the total monthly attendance by the number of days the school is in operation. Round up to the nearest whole number. Average attendance for a term Divide the total number of days in attendance by the total number of days of membership for the school or district.
  • Truancy
A student is considered truant if they have four unexcused absences in a month or ten unexcused absences in a school year.

  • Chronic absence
A student is considered chronically absent if they are absent for 10% or more of the school days for any reason.
